Documenting seismic and aseismic deformation is pivotal to (i) gain a better understanding of the strain build-up-and-release mechanism in a segmented fault system, and (ii) to characterize the frictional or structural complexities that drive rupture propagation. During this presentation, I intend to illustrate both through two examples using InSAR and seismology. This will give an overview of what we can infer in terms of fault maturity and frictional state. Those important features could be considered in further morphotectonic and paleoseismological studies.
