Kinematics, Dynamics and Hazard of Slow-Moving Landslides

Landslides modify the natural landscape and cause fatalities and property damage worldwide. Quantifying landslide dynamics is challenging due to the stochastic nature of the environment. We use a combination of remote sensing data and methods to recover the four-dimensional surface motions of several slow-moving landslide systems. From these data we are able to evaluate both kinematic landslide parameters and some of the driving mechanisms involved in landslide motion, focusing also on the conditions that can destabilize slow-moving landslides.
