In Turkey’s Lake Iznik, the remains of a basilica submerged for centuries have mysteriously resurfaced. Described by the U.S. Archaeological Institute as one of the 10 greatest archaeological discoveries of recent years, this sunken treasure trove is about to become the focus of a major scientific and historical investigation. Around the French geologist Julia de Sigoyer and the Turkish archaeologist Mustafa Sahin, a dozen international researchers and historians will conduct a fascinating double investigation, to find out whether this mysterious basilica was the site of one of the founding events of Christianity, the 1st Council of Nicea, and to try to uncover the causes of the basilica’s destruction. Alongside them, we plunge into a tumultuous history, shaped by the convulsions of the Earth and the revolutionary vision of the first Christian emperor, Constantine, who put his stamp on one of the greatest political and religious transformations mankind has ever known.

Organization of a meeting between Grenoble Archaeology Museum and a team of Turkish archaeologists Nov. 2019
I have organized a meeting between my Turkish archaeology colleagues and Grenoble’s of Grenoble’s archaeological museum, Mr Jospin, who is in charge of the Lac de Paladru of Lac de Paladru. The Basilica of Saint Neophytos of Nicaea 4th Century discovered in Lake Iznik and the Basilica of Saint Laurent in Grenoble both date from the same period. My Turkish archaeology coleagues archaeologists in charge of excavations at Iznik will be helping to create and of the permanent exhibition at the Iznik Archaeological Museum. They wanted to visit Grenoble’s Saint Laurent church, as this heritage is being is tremendously valued. The head of the museum described the project for the new Musée d’Archéologie du Lac de Paladru (Lake Paladru Museum of Archaeology) excavations. Joint exhibition projects were also discussed.

Carlut J. : Through a photographic exhibition, researchers from the AOROCH (Archaeology) and geosciences laboratories of the ENS show the results of their study of Pompeii’s water system. Organization of the "Journées du Lycéens"
Presentation of the Earth & Environment Sciences courses : Every year, the team of teacher-researchers that I have coordinated for 7 years takes part in the "Journées du Lycéens" to show the interest of high school students in the geosciences. We organize seminars and meetings. The documentary film will be screened at the upcoming High School Day on Jan 22 th 2024.

Organization of visits to OSUG laboratories for UGA undergraduate students
From Earth and Environmental Sciences, Physics and Life and Earth Sciences formation : For the past 5 years, I’ve organized an annual visit to OSUG laboratories : ISTerre, IGE and IPAG, to inform UGA science students about science-related research and careers. I invite the researchers and ingeniors from these laboratories to explain and show students their research, through experiments, visits to analysis rooms, workshops and mini-conferences.
