POIA-FEDER : Interregional Programme of the Alpine Mountains

As part of the European cohesion policy for the period 2014-2020, the South Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region and the Rhône-Alpes Region have jointly applied for the management of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in the Alps. For the 2014-2020 programming period, the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region will be the sole managing authority for the implementation of the Interregional Operational Programme for the Alpine Mountains (POIA).

Amount of the POIA-FEDER program :
34 M€
The POIA was adopted on 11 December 2014 by the European Commission.

The POIA, as a development tool for the entire Alpine Massif located in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region and the South Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, will be targeted on the following priority axes:

**Priority axis 1: Protect and enhance Alpine resources for the sustainable development of mountain territories (€22 million)

Specific Objective 1: To increase the summer discovery of the massif by enhancing the natural and cultural heritage (€18 million)

The POIA will aim to develop tourist numbers, particularly during the summer period, by adapting and strengthening a discovery offer based on the enhancement of the cultural and natural heritage resources of mountain areas.

Specific Objective 2: Protecting biodiversity and ecological continuity in the Alps (€4 million)

The challenge of this interregional approach is to protect and enhance natural areas and Alpine biodiversity (maintenance of species, protection of areas and ecological continuity).

**Priority axis 2: Structuring and consolidating the Alpine wood processing sector for construction (€6 million)

Specific Objective 3: Increase the certified supply of locally processed alpine timber

The POIA focuses its intervention on the timber processing sector in order to increase the supply of processed wood and its added value within the massif. The POIA is part of the collective process of "Bois des Alpes" certification.

**Priority axis 3: Developing the resilience of territories and populations to natural risks (€5 million)

Specific Objective 4: Expand and improve integrated natural risk management on the massif

The POIA supports the territorial expansion of "Territorial Natural Risk Management" (GIRN) in the Alpine massif through the emergence of new support territories called "Integrated Natural Risk Management Alpine Territories" by supporting the financing of a specific local animation engineering and the implementation of adapted action plans.
