Project description

The project consists in studying the creep failure of unstressed structural building materials (wood and concrete) in collaboration with the Applied Physics Department of Aalto University (Finland). The aim of the present application is to fund (i) small-scale equipment for concrete fabrication (molds, cement, polystyrene beads for "model" lightweight concretes), (ii) a mission to Finland in 2023 and (iii) measurement time on the SIMAP tomograph to characterize the microstructure of selected samples, before and after creep. These latter measurements will complement/validate the acoustic tomography measurements carried out in in-operando mode with the Ondes team (P. Roux).
