Setting up of an analog modeling laboratory in Chambéry

Project title: Setting up of an analog modeling laboratory in Chambéry
Project leader(s): MARTINOD Joseph - PINEL Virginie
Team(s) involved: Tectonics, Reliefs & Basins - Volcanic geophysics & geothermics
 Amount: 11000 euros

**Description of the project

"The objective of this project is to set up an analogue modelling laboratory on the ISTerre-Savoie site. The new-setup will first be dedicated to two projects :
1- the study of the propagation of magmatic intrusions (trajectory and velocity)
2- the study of processes in the Earth’s mantle (subduction) that have controlled the dynamics of the Alpine arc since the Oligocene period
We will take benefit of the electronic and mechanical skills of Jacques Grangeon.

This transdisciplinary project is carried out by researchers from 2 teams of the laboratory. In the long term, it will be able to benefit any ISTerre researcher wishing to set up analogue models of the Earth’s rupture and deformation mechanisms."
