Management team
The management team is composed of a director and a team of deputy directors (DDs).
The role of the director includes :
– developing and implementing the lab’s scientific goals
– situating the lab within the greater scientific community
– managing the lab
– administering decisions related to life in the workplace
– leading and supporting lab personnel
– developing the lab’s training programs
– evaluating technical and administrative personnel
– creating an open, active line of both internal and external communication
– ensuring the safety of all individuals within the lab
The director is appointed upon recommendation from the ensemble of ISTerre’s supervisory sponsors, internal authorities, and council board members. A director’s term is determined by the supervisory sponsors and can be renewed one time.
Documents and meeting notes are managed by designated board members and deputy directors, with approval by the entire managerial team. The team meets on a weekly basis.

**The board of directors
The board of directors is composed of heads of research and executive team members. They meet monthly (or more, per institutional needs.)
The board of directors is elected to disseminate information, advocate for respective team needs, enact managerial decisions, partake in collective votes, and evaluate planning and operational strategies for the institute.
